Good Deals for Teens in Cleveland Plus

What are some good deals (especially for young people) in Cleveland?”

My friends and love finding cheap and free things to do in the Cleveland area since we are broke college students. So, I came up with a few quick suggestions:

Movie tickets at Cedar Lee on Monday are only $5. If you aren’t familiar with this Cleveland Heights’ cinema, it features a lot of independent films you won’t get to see in the mainstream movie theaters. My friend Colleen and I saw Mongol last Monday and not only were tickets cheap, but a small pop (yes . . . we’re in Cleveland and we say “pop” not “soda” or “cola”) was only a $1 and Monday included free popcorn. It was definitely cheaper than a typical movie night.

Progressive Field’s half price student ID nights are a great deal for high school and college students. Register at Indians.com with your school email address you’ll get an email back with the discount code to purchase your tickets before this game. GO TRIBE!

Here is a list of the remaining home games for the 2008 season:

This is one for music and concert fans,

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum offers “Cleveland Sessions,” a series of free concerts during the spring to fall seasons.  You have to check the calendar online to see who is playing. It’s a pretty up-close show and better than dropping $40 where you’re probably a mile from the stage anyway.

Nelson-Kennedy Ledges Park is a good place for hiking and exploring in general, but be sure to wear tennis shoes or something supportive.  They have trails that take you through these rock formations and caves. It is a lot of fun and free, if you don’t count the gas money you can split with a carful of friends. I’ve been to Nelson Ledges with family, friends and, last summer, a group of 40 kids for day camp.

I don’t know if this appeals to all college students, but Colleen and I like going to plays together. The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival is great because they have free, outdoor theater performances during the summer. The 2008 season features, in repertory, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, by Tom Stoppard. The company travels all over the area, so visit the website to find the venue closest to you. –HD
